October 2, 2001

BILLERICA, MA. - The Dracut High School Girls Soccer team and Billerica High School Girls Soccer Team battle to a 1 - 1 tie on Tuesday afternoon.

The Middies now stand at 6 - 2 -1 overall and 5 - 1 - 1 in the Merrimack Valley Conference. Billerica improves to 3 - 5- 1 overall and 2 - 5 - 1 in the MVC.

Senior Captain Kacie McGlasson scored 1:30 into the second half to give Dracut the lead. Jen Fontaine assisted on the goal.

Both team battled back and forth with Billerica outshooting the Middies in the second half. That paid off has Billerica was able to tie the game with 9 minutes remaining.

"This game was very important for Billerica and they played like it. A tie does them good and it hurts us in term of the MVC Title", said head coach Wayne Currie. "It is important the we keep pace with Chelmsford. Right now they are the team to beat in the MVC".

Sophomore Keeper Michaela Anthony had 10 saves in net for the Middies.

The Middies will return to action Friday when they entertain Andover in a key game at 3:30 p.m.
